Introducing Our Summer Star: Baobab Affogato with Zimbabwean Espresso

As the sun climbs higher over Zürich and the days stretch longer, we're bringing you something bold, refreshing, and unapologetically African—our Summer Affogato. This is not your average espresso-over-ice-cream treat. It’s a celebration of heritage, terroir, and innovation in a single glass.

A Scoop of the Unexpected: Baobab Ice Cream

At the heart of this summer creation is our handcrafted baobab ice cream, made in small batches using real baobab fruit. Known as the “Tree of Life,” baobab brings a naturally tart, citrusy flavor that’s high in vitamin C and antioxidants. It's light, creamy, and tangy—perfect for hot days and even better when paired with a deep, rich espresso shot.

Poured Over a Zimbabwean  Specialty Espresso Coffee

To match the intensity of the baobab, we’re using our Zimbabwean single-origin espresso roast, sourced directly from smallholder farms. This roast delivers complex notes that compliment the ice cream beautifully and against the baobab’s brightness. It’s an origin close to our hearts and one that tells a story in every cup.

Why This Matters

This affogato isn’t just a summer dessert. It’s a meeting of cultures, climates, and traditions. It honors African ingredients while using them in new, unexpected ways. For us at ZimKaffee, it’s also a celebration of where we come from and where we’re going.

Starting May 9th, our Baobab Affogato with Zimbabwean Espresso will be available at ZimKaffee Bellevue. It's bold. It's refreshing. It's Zim in a cup.
